Cleaning Your Printer Easily
Periodically cleaning your printer at home can save you from experiencing problems in printing. Unlike in offices, where there are technicians skilled in cleaning and maintaining electronic equipments, in our home, we have to do it ourselves. Read on to know the proper ways of cleaning printers.
Before you start, make sure that you have all the necessary supplies: a soft cloth and some cleaning fluid. Water would be the very good cleaning agent for this purpose since it has a balanced PH and would not ruin the plastic. After all the materials are prepared, you can then start checking the printer manual.
If the manufacturer of your printer have some specific instructions about the cleaning of your printer, then you have to follow them religiously. So, before you do the actual cleaning, you must have the printer turned off. This is important to keep yourself from being electrocuted.
The easy part of the procedure is cleaning the outside of the printer. All you have to do is to dampen the cloth and wipe the exterior of the printing while ensuring that no fluid gets inside. Then you can wait for it to dry.
Cleaning the interior of the printer is more tricky, but not that really difficult. First you got to unplug it from the surge suppressor and remove the internal paper trays as well as the toner cartridges. Place the cartridge on a piece of paper. Using a brush (that comes with your printer) and a dry, lint-free cloth, clean the interior of the toner. If you have a brush which was supplied with the printer, clean the printer mirror. But if you do not have the brush, leave the mirror alone. Then, you may wipe away the dust and spilled toner as well as remove paper fragments. After that you may clean the rollers, except the sponge roller. Then, replace the toner, and and put everything back together.
